Regarding how Loras reacts to Renly’s death in the show as opposed to in the books…I have to say, the show version is much more realistic. I’ve never seen someone immediately react to the death of their close loved one by tearing apart a room and/or attacking people. Obviously fiction is prone to exaggerated reactions, but I think Loras’s broken heart and helpless numbness was much more affecting than seeing him slaughter the guards wrongly. Loras is a knight but he’s not a sociopath who randomly rages out and kills people, so I don’t buy the argument that it’s in character for a trained knight like him. I thought it was over the top in the original writing, and rereading over the years hasn’t changed my mind on that.
